Is there a trial period?

Yes, you have 30 days from the day you sign up to check it out.

If you decide it’s not for you, simply cancel within the 30-day trial period and return your laptop and any accessories within 10 days to receive a refund.

After canceling, HP will send you an email with detailed instructions and a pre-paid return shipping label. You can use the original packaging for the return, or FedEx will provide return packaging if needed.

Please know that non-return fees may apply if the products are not returned within 10 days of receiving the return shipping label.

Is there an option to own or "buy out" the laptop?

No. There is no option to own or "buy out" the laptop you receive as part of your subscription.

Unlike a lease with an option to own-or-rent to own plan, with HP Laptop Subscription you pay a monthly fee and return your setup at the conclusion of your term.

If you don’t return the laptop or accessories, you’ll be charged a non-return fee:

What if I want to cancel my subscription after the trial period?

If you cancel after the first 30 days but still within the first year, there is a cancellation fee equal to the remaining year’s payments. For example, if you cancel six months after enrollment, your cancellation fee will be equal to six months times your monthly payment.

You can cancel through your online HP Laptop Subscription account, or by contacting 24/7 Pro live support at 1-866-204-8618. Your subscription will remain active through your current monthly billing cycle and then will stop.

You must return all products to HP within 10 days of canceling. We’ll send an email with instructions and a pre-paid return shipping label. Either use the original packaging, or FedEx can provide return packaging when dropping your products off.

Cancellation fees only apply to your subscription laptop or upgrade laptop for the first 12 months.

Is the HP Laptop Subscription similar to a mobile phone plan?

While the HP Laptop Subscription shares similarities with mobile phone plans by offering a monthly payment structure for a device with bundled services, there are distinct differences.

Unlike some mobile phone plans that may allow for a buyout option, the HP Laptop Subscription does not provide this option. Your monthly payments are calculated by the laptop and accessories you select.

Your monthly payment also covers 24/7 support with continuous coverage and next business day replacement shipping to keep your technology running smoothly. Plus, after one year, you can trade in your current laptop and upgrade to the latest technology.

The HP Laptop Subscription provides access to cutting-edge technology at a predictable monthly price without the commitment of owning tech as it loses value, allowing you to stay current with the latest advancements.

What are the typical costs associated with the HP Laptop Subscription?

With the HP Laptop Subscription, your monthly cost is based on the HP laptop and accessories you choose when you sign up, plus sales tax where applicable.

There are no additional costs for 24/7 support with continuous coverage or as soon as next business day replacement.

If you opt to upgrade after 12 months, your monthly price will be based on the new HP laptop and accessories you select at that time.

If you choose to cancel your subscription after the 30-day risk-free trial but before the end of the 12-month period, a cancellation fee will apply.

How many laptops can I subscribe to?

Each household can have up to one laptop subscription.

What happens after the first 12 months?

You can continue your HP Laptop Subscription for as long as you like.

After the initial 12 months: You can continue using your current laptop at the same monthly price and there is no longer a cancellation fee if you decide to cancel. You also have the option to trade in and upgrade the laptop at any time. Simply choose a new laptop in MyAccount, return the old laptop, and your subscription continues uninterrupted at the new monthly price based on the laptop you choose.

If you choose to unsubscribe to the HP Laptop Subscription, you must cancel and return all your devices to HP to avoid any non-return fees. We’ll provide a pre-paid shipping label and instructions for how to complete your return.

What happens to my subscription products if I cancel?

If you cancel, you are legally required to return all products included in your subscription within 10 days of receiving the return label. Non-return fees apply for any product not returned to HP (non-return fees are based on the products in your subscription). There is no option to “buy out” the laptop and accessories.

Is my data privacy secure on a laptop I won’t own?

We take your privacy and data seriously. We do not have access to any of your personal files on the laptop at any time during your subscription, and our support team will assist you in removing and transferring all data to another device prior to you returning the laptop. We securely wipe and destroy the data before repurposing it or recycling to keep you protected—always.

Is there an easy way to transfer my files and data to my new laptop when I upgrade?

When you’re ready to trade in your old laptop and upgrade to a new one, we will provide you with PCmover® Professional, a software that automatically moves your applications, files, settings, and user profiles from one laptop to your next.

Here’s how:
  1. Install PCmover® on both of your computers and follow the simple setup guide.
  2. Pair your computers with the PCmover® serial number. 
  3. Select what software, files, and settings you want to transfer to the new laptop.
  4. Start the transfer and let PCmover® do the rest.  

When you feel everything has transferred over to your new laptop, you can ship us back the old device.

Can I get the services with the HP laptop I already own?

No. Services of the HP Laptop Subscription are included with a new HP laptop as part of your subscription. However, you can separately purchase select HP Care Packs and Smart Friend extended protection services for your existing PC.

About 5G Service - currently out of stock for new customers
What happens to my 5G service if I travel outside of the US?

The HP Laptop Subscription only supports domestic 5G service within the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. If you travel outside of the US, you will need to find a local internet connection or use your phone hotspot.

Can I get the 5G service on any of the laptops in the HP Laptop Subscription?

No. Only the HP EliteBook 6 G1q has 5G connectivity built into the laptop itself with the 5G service provided by HP.

Can I connect the HP EliteBook 6 G1q to my cell phone plan?

No. You cannot connect the HP EliteBook 6 G1q to your own cell phone plan. The 5G service is included with the HP Laptop Subscription.

Is the 5G data unlimited?

Yes, with the HP EliteBook 6 G1q as part of the HP Laptop Subscription, the domestic 5G service is unlimited while in the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. During congestion, customers may notice reduced speeds until the next bill cycle due to data prioritization.

What if I need help with the 5G service?

With your HP Laptop Subscription, our 24/7 Pro live support team is here to help with any questions about the HP EliteBook 6 G1q including helping walk you through how to use the 5G service.

Our HP technicians know the ins and outs of your laptop and can help troubleshoot warranty issues. For issues that we cannot resolve over the phone, we’ll ship you a new laptop or accessory as soon as the next business day as well as cover any return shipping costs for the laptop.

What is continuous laptop coverage?

We know unexpected things can happen, and we’ve got you covered. If the laptop or accessory has an issue, you can call our 24/7 Pro live support team anytime. If we cannot fix it over the phone, we can send you a replacement laptop or accessory as soon as the next business day at no additional cost. It's all included in your subscription.

How do I enroll in the HP Laptop Subscription?

To sign up for the HP Laptop Subscription:

  1. Select a new HP laptop
  2. Choose from our optional accessories
  3. Consent to a soft credit check
  4. Create or sign in to your HP account
  5. Provide your billing and shipping information
Why is a soft credit check needed to enroll?

The soft credit check assesses your eligibility for the HP Laptop Subscription, without impacting your credit score. We do not receive your credit score or personal credit information from TransUnion. In addition, we also run fraud prevention checks.

What if I have a credit freeze?

If your credit is frozen with TransUnion you'll need to temporarily lift the freeze before proceeding with enrollment.

Why do I need an HP account (HP ID) to enroll?

An HP account (HP ID) is required to enroll and allows you to securely manage your subscription and receive the services included in your HP Laptop Subscription.

What type of payment options are available?

You can enroll in a subscription using your debit or credit card.

What if I need help enrolling?

Can I enroll in an HP Laptop Subscription if I live outside the United States?

Right now, an HP Laptop Subscription is only available in the 50 United States. US territories and other countries are not currently supported.

How fast can I get the new laptop included in the subscription?

Most laptops are delivered within three business days (if ordered before 2:30 PM Eastern Time M-F). Shipping times may vary.

Can I add accessories later?

At this time, you can only add accessories when you initially sign up for the HP Laptop Subscription.

How does the billing work with the HP Laptop Subscription?

Your first payment is charged when you sign up. Each monthly payment is automatically charged to your payment method. Sign in to MyAccount for all your HP Laptop Subscription information.

What happens if I miss a payment?

We’ll rebill you to help you catch up. If all rebilling attempts fail, you’ll have a 45-day grace period to make the payment. If payment isn’t made within the grace period, the following actions will be taken:

  • The laptop will be remotely locked
  • Your account may be referred to a collection agency
  • Your subscription will be cancelled

Disclaimers

  1. HP Laptop Subscription includes select laptops and peripherals paid for with a monthly fee charged to your payment method on file based on the devices you select. HP retains ownership of the devices throughout the subscription, and devices must be returned to HP upon subscription upgrade or cancellation. For complete details see HP Laptop Subscription Terms of Service. Your subscription and monthly payments, plus any applicable taxes, will automatically renew and continue unless you cancel. If you cancel your subscription within 30 days of enrolling and return the devices within 10 days of receiving the prepaid return label provided to you, your first monthly payment and any additional charges will be fully refunded to your payment method.
